Allen and Patsy Reaves Scholarship Applications are now being accepted. The applicant must meet these qualifications:

1. Graduate of high school in YISD or SISD or currently an employee in the YISD or SISD.

2. Currently a Junior or Senior at UTEP with 60 or more credit hours.

3. Currently pursing a college Teacher Certification degree or Alternative Education Certification.

LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION

Throughout the 2019 Legislative Session, we have posted the latest information regarding legislation that impacts retired educators. With the end of the Session on May 26th, we can report that all of the emails, phone calls, visits, and letters have paid off! With the passage of Senate Bill 500 (the supplemental budget) and Senate Bill 12 (the Retired Teachers' Security Act), we can rejoice that the TRS Pension fund will be actuarially sound. Those retirees who retired by December 31, 2018, received a one time 13th check not to exceed $2000. With the actuarial soundness of the pension fund, we can look forward to cost of living adjustments in the near future.

Volunteering

We had a total Volunteer Hours for 2018 of 61,027 hours. That equates to $1,506,756.63 using the rate of $24.69 per hour. Way to go YRSEA!!!!  

We are at the end of our time for collecting hours for 2019. Please be sure to turn in your hours to Paul Haupt, Chairman of Community Volunteers. We are hoping to surpass our volunteer hours from 2018!

Scholarship Recipients 2019

Each year, Ysleta Retired School Employees Association awards 2-3 scholarships to aspiring educators who are classified as a junior or senior at UTEP. In 2019, we awarded three scholarships valued at $2500 each.
