BEAR Book Project

Each spring, the Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers & School Employees Association distributes a book to every first, third and fifth grade student in Palo Pinto County public schools.  This includes:  Gordon, Graford, Mineral Wells (Lamar Elementary, Houston Elementary, Travis Elementary), Palo Pinto, Santo and Strawn.  Approximately 1,100 books are donated locally, each year to encourage these students to become life long readers.   Each student is allowed to select the book that will interest him or her.

We always need donations to fund this effort.    An easy way to do this is to sell the books you have already finished reading and donate that money.

Marilyn Runnels and Cecelia Staten are the local chairmen of the project for 2016-2018.
