Natural Flu-Fighting Foods

> Carrots, dark green vegetables, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, winter squash. Yep, there was a reason Mom always asked you to eat your vegetables.  These veggies are rich in beta-carotene to ward off respiratory infections.

> Green, black or oolong teas.  These contain powerful anti-oxidants and the decaf teas contain amino acids to help ward off infections.

>  Yogurt and/or cottage cheese.  Probiotics!  We've all heard of them.  These strengthen the immune system.

>  Tomatoes; Tomato juice.  One medium tomato provides up to 40% or your daily Vitamin C to boost your body's defense system.

> Mushrooms.  They increase the body's resistance to viral infections.

>  Almonds, almond butter or almond oil.  A rich source of the anti-oxidant Vitamin E.

>  Chicken soup.  Such a time-proven remedy.  It helps the immune system fight off a virus in the early stages of infection.  (For best results, you need to consume it throughout your illness.)

>  Salmon.  High in Vitamin D which the immune system needs to kill harmful bacteria and viruses.
