About Us
HISTORY
The Brenham Retired Teachers Association was organized in 1970 with 21 members. Miss Clara Hamblen served as the first president. In 1973, the association honored Miss Louise Giddings by changing the name to Brenham Louise Giddings Retired Teachers Association.
In 1985, Mrs. Emma Seeker, Mrs. Gayle Crawford, and Mrs. Lillie Wassermann researched old records and pictures dated from 1907 through 1967, and the association published Common School Districts of Washington County , a unique book about local school districts. Copies of the reprinted book may be purchased at the Heritage Museum in Brenham.
In 2010 our name was changed to its current form, Brenham Area Retired School Personnel, to include all TRS retirees as well as neighboring communties.
