WCRTA is an active local unit that meets monthly on the third Friday of the month except for the months of June, July and August. We meet at the Huntsville ISD Transportation Facility at 95 MLK Blvd., Huntsville, TX. We begin fellowship and refreshments at 9:30am and begin our program at 10am. We always have interesting and informative programs. Our membership is open to all retired school employees not only classroom teachers.

In addition to joining us at one of our meetings you may join our local by contacting our President, Mona Bartoshek.

A calender of our meeting dates and speakers may be accessed by chosing the "Event" tab at the top of this page.

Each year Walker County Retired Teachers provides a book for each child in the Gibbs Pre-K center. We hope this early experience of owning a book will translate into a life long love of reading.

Our unit is very involved in helping its members stay informed of current legislation measures that effect retired school employees. We also promote our members being involved in volunteer work in the community and they volunteer hundreds of hours each year. Our unit also funds a scholarship yearly for a graduating High School senior in Walker County that is an Education major.

If you are interested  in joining our group or just visiting us please attend one of our meetings.
