Coryell Retired Teachers Association was organized in 1969 by Mamie A. Stricker. We proudly serve our community by serving on school boards and/or school related committees, acting as aides by assisting elementary classroom teachers, tutoring, reading to students as well as listening to students read, presenting programs, working at athletic or literary events, acting as judges for essay, art, music competitions, and mentoring a child. Other community services include, but are not limited to:

Participating in service clubs (Lions, Exchange, etc.)

Organizations such as AARP, ATPE, RTA, Heritage Clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts

Volunteer work in hospitals, nursing homes, senior citizen centers

Emergency Management training activitites (Red Cross, ham radio, blood bank, etc.)

Install officers for organizations

Sit with a person at the hospital

Care for grandchildren while parents work

Assist with community activities and assist neighbors and friends where and when needed

Adopt a section of highway to clean

Act as a big brother or sister

Work on communitu wide celebration or activiy

Volunteer services in a museum, recycle activities

Teach non-credit courses in various subjects

Teach Sunday School or be a camp counselor

Collect food, clothing, etc. for needy

Assist in worship service, church activities, and in other areas of the church, including funerals, and prison ministries

Assist the homebund with buying groceries, taking to the doctor, etc.

Objectives:

To promote the professional, economic, intellectual, social and healthy well being of retired school personnel.

To encourage all members to use their talents, training, and experience in furhering the educational, social, and civic growth of the community, the state, and the nation

To cooperate with Texas Retired Teachers Association, its district and local units, and with other organizations of retired persons in solving problems of mutual concern.

To aford opportunities for united action in solving problems relative to the needs of all retired school employees.
