*** Texercise Program
TRTA has partnered with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to promote the Texercise program. Texercise is a great way to stay active in retirement. DADS is setting up many locations for you to get involved in the program.
Physical activity is important for older adults as it can reduce risk of chronic conditions and improve mental health. Texercise is the best way to stay fit and healthy during retirement. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends and see old acquaintances.
Get started today by visiting http://www.texercise.com. where you can order a free Texercise handbook or DVD. Regular exercise can help you start improving your health in as little as 3 weeks.
On January 31st at The TRTA District XI Presidents’ Meeting, among other things, we discussed the Rally Day Bus.
The details include: March 29, at 5:30 AM the bus will leave from the Radisson Hotel Fort Worth South, at 100 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth 76134. Park on the far east side of the hotel where the bus should be.
The cost is $25 per rider. Send your check to me, Jack Teddlie, 2320 Primrose Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76111, made out to TRTA Dist. XI. Upon boarding the bus you will receive your check back. District XI is underwriting the bus. Two years ago we had a bus at no charge and had several no-shows. This time if you don’t show up when the bus is ready to leave we keep your check and reimburse the district.
We are hoping to fill the reserved 56 passenger bus . Please wear red. We will receive talking points when we get off the bus. We will pack the House and Senate galleries in the Capitol before 9:00 AM. Make an appointment with your representative and senator for that day after 12:00. There will be ice cream on the south lawn from 12:00 to 2:30, at which time we will board the bus to return to Fort Worth. You may bring your lunch, eat at the Capitol, or nearby.
I must have the checks by March 1.
Let’s plan to have a great day!
